Bible Reading

11 For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. 12 It teaches us to say No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in this present age, 13 while we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, 14 who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.”

Titus 2:10-14

Introduction

In Titus 2, Paul addresses different people groups, specifically. His reasoning for doing this was to encourage each group towards Godly living, as it is demanded of us by God’s truth. He speaks to the older men and women, younger men and women, and slaves. With this encouragement as a foundation, he then transitions to teaching how grace encourages us to live a Godly life.

Prayer

God, thank You for the salvation we have that comes only from You. I clear my heart and my mind today to hear clearly from You. Make me more like You today.

Questions from today’s reading:

  • According to verse 11, what has appeared?
    • What does this grace offer to all people?
  • What is the byproduct of grace?
  • Why did Jesus give Himself as a sacrifice? (see verse 14)

Applications from today’s reading:

  • It is the grace of God that brings about salvation for all who put their faith in God.
    • The helmet of salvation offers us protection over our mind.
  • We can only receive the protection offered by the message of salvation by receiving the grace God offers us.
    • This is important to protect our minds because if the enemy can control our minds, he can lead us astray in our lives. This will lead us away from a life of Godly living that is demanded by God’s truth.
  • Upon receiving salvation, we now live in the grace that provides salvation. But the protection or the value of grace does not stop.
    • We practically wear the helmet of salvation through grace. Grace is then a teacher that leads us away from ungodly living.
    • Jesus died to redeem us from wickedness and purify us.
  • What areas of your life do you need the protection of the helmet of salvation?
    • The grace of God makes it possible.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your Word today. Help me to lean into Your grace today, the same grace that saves me teaches me to live a life that pleases You. Strengthen me to put on the helmet of salvation, that my mind may be protected. In Jesus’ name, amen.
